Under the starlight
I stand and see
All of the others vanish
Except for me
Is this a punishment
What is it i have done
With haste to find the answers
Through the prairie and plains i run
I come across a mountain
And i traverse its peaks
I arrive on the same side i started on
The mountain speaks
"You can see where you are going
But can you envision the end
Start your journey at your destination
And you'll clear your head"
I clear my mind and think of
The open field where i was born
A landslide comes and carries me
Safely to my home i soar
On the way we stop by a river
With a current too strong to pass
I would surely drown if i attempt it
So i spoke up and asked
"Great river how could i pass you
With your currents that rip the flesh"
A face raises up from the water
And she responds to my request
"A young whelp like you must be patient
And learn the ways of the current of life
To be level minded in your psyche
Will save you from a worrisome life"
I step into the river
And almost slip under the flow
But i carry my pace with the riptide
And on my journey i go
The fields of straw hold a history
Not many eyes can see
These plains are home to my bloodline
And the lines of others like me
We wear the skulls as a symbol
Of the fate that we will all share
When the raven comes and takes its due
My family will meet me there
